Timothy Jay Shepherd, 82 years young, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 10, 2026, after a short illness. He was born on February 20, 1944, to Jake and Dorthey (Evans) Shepherd, the sixth of seven brothers.

On April 10, 1965, he married Phyllis June Gardner, and they shared more than sixty years together.

Tim was a well-regarded carpet installer for over 45 years. One thing you could always say about him was that his work ethic was matched by few. You could also say he played just as hard. He enjoyed a good meal, a cold beer, and a good game of pool or ping pong. He also enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson with his best friends Glenn Dale and Larry Carter, as well as many others.

Tim especially loved spending time with his family. He was a well-loved husband, dad, and a much-loved Papa.

He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew; his parents; and his brothers Raymond, Gerrald, Harold, Gearry, and Lloyd Shepherd.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis; their children, Paul (Theresa) Gardner, Kelly Todd, and Teresa (Randy) Wells; grandchildren Shevelle (Seth) Lumley, Dustin (Lindsay) Wells, Daniel (Andrea Powell) Wells, Brandon (Cathy) Gardner, and Bailey (Arianna) Gardner; great-grandchildren Shelby (Zachary Norton) Clair, Evan Clair, Ryatt Wells, Londae Wells, Scotlyn Wells, and Ny Wells; and great-great-grandchild Kingston Clair.

He is also survived by his brother, Herman Shepherd, and sister-in-law Carolyn Shepherd (wife of the late Harold Shepherd).

A visitation will be held at Greenlawn North Funeral Home on March 20, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
