It is with both heavy hearts and grateful spirits that we announce the passing of Tracy Anne Slagle, a dynamic and beloved figure who left an everlasting mark on her community and all who knew her. Tracy was born on October 25, 1962, in Springfield, MO, to Dorrell C and Helen Marie (Scrivener) Luce, and throughout her life, she embodied a spirit of love, service and joy.
Tracy embodied the love she had for her Savior and best friend, Jesus Christ, by the way she lived every day of her life, and it was reflected through the love she had for her husband, children, family, and friends.
As a City Administrator, Tracy passionately served her community, tirelessly working to foster growth and positive change in Bolivar, MO, where she resided. Upon retirement from the city, she served as a manager with Liberty Utilities. Her commitment to public service was matched only by her devotion to her family.
Tracy was preceded in death by her parents; a son Christopher James Slagle, Jr.; and a brother Timothy A. Luce.
Tracy is survived by her loving husband, Christopher Slagle, who stood by her side in all of life’s adventures. She also leaves behind her cherished daughters, Carol Friedl (Jason Royal) and Lyndsey Slagle-Neal (Jeffery), her sons, Turner Slagle (Brittany) and J Austin Slagle; five grandchildren: Cole, Juliet, Brogen, Addy Mae, Grace Anne; great nieces and nephew: Natalee, Addalyn, and Klayton; a sister Dorelen Crocker (Pat); as well as many other relatives and friends; each of whom carry forward her legacy of kindness and strength.
Tracy’s journey on this earth may have concluded, but the celebration of her life and contributions will live on in our hearts and memories. We invite friends, family, and community members to join us in a celebratory gathering to honor Tracy’s remarkable life.
A memorial visitation will be held at Emmaus Springfield, Springfield, MO, Friday, July 31, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and a Celebration of Life at SBU’s Pike Auditorium inside Maybee Chapel Bolivar, MO, Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00 pm, where we will share stories, laughter, and tears in remembrance of her vibrant spirit. I had the pleasure of having Tracy as one of my students when she attended Missouri State University. She was a student in my undergraduate PLS 101 class and later, as a student in our Master of Public Administration Program.
Tracy was an excellent student who displayed a real enthusiasm for learning. She was a very bright student, and I only wish I could have more students like her. She was very successful as an administrator in various capacities and I was very proud to call her a colleague in every sense of the word.
My sincere condolences to her family. She was quite the jewel, and I know she will be missed greatly.
