Tsung Pao “Tom” Tan, 76, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on November 17, 2021. Tom was born on February 16, 1945, in Hangzhou, China. Tom was active in the Taiwanese Army for 20 years. He was married to Tsui Miao “Dianna” Yen in 1973 in Taipei, Taiwan. Dianna was the love of Tom’s life and she was his “lucky rabbit.” Tom and Dianna moved to the United States in 1983 with their three children to pursue the American dream. Tom and Dianna achieved this dream and owned a locally loved restaurant, Mandarin Inn, famous for Tom’s general chicken, from 1987 until 2007. Tom was a devoted family man. He was a wonderful husband, father and Yia Yia to all eight of his grandchildren. Tom was an avid collector and lover of bonsai, koi and crystals. He is survived by his wife Dianna; his three children, Lung Tan and wife Emily, of Kansas City, Missouri; Mei Laukemper and husband Jon, of Overland Park, Kansas; April Wire and husband Keith, of Phoenix, Arizona; eight grandchildren, Logan, Fern, Sienna, Layla, Everett, Jagger, Viggo and Gisele; two sisters and four brothers.
