Velma E. Bennett

Velma E. Bennett was born Febraury 10, 1921. She was the daughter of John and Eliza Sanders. Velma, 90, passed away in her home on February 14, 2011 with her family at her side. She was born and raised in Ozark County, Mo., and married her high school sweetheart, Lowell G. Bennett. He was her devoted caregiver nearly 71 years.
Velma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lowell; an infant daughter, Anna Marie; one brother and two sisters. Survivors include two daughters and their spouses, Sandra and Ervin Dock and Sharon and Darrell Reeds; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephew; and many friends.
She and her husband owned and operated the Beltone Hearing Center for 40 years. Velma was a talented lady. Her favorite hobby was crocheting. She made many items for family, friends, and many baby afghans for the “Packages of Love” at Sunset Church of Christ. She was a member of Sunset Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2011 in the church located at 1222 W. Sunset, Springfield, Mo., with Joe Bright and Dwight Samuel officiating. Visiation will be held at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 E. Seminole on Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. Condolences can be made at www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com
