Vernie May Cameron, age 101, of Springfield, MO, went to be with the lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2011. She was born September 6, 1910, in Union Town, KS, to David and Artie May (Ralston) Drake. She was a member of the Baptist Temple in Springfield, MO. Vernie was a very spiritual woman who frequently attended church and read her bible daily, just as she promised God as a young girl. She enjoyed gardening, making quilts, and different crafts. She was active in the senior center, where she enjoyed playing cards and visiting with her friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her but we are all comforted here on earth knowing she is in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Loren Cameron;
3 brothers; and 2 sisters.
She is survived by her sons Loren W. Cameron, of Springfield, MO, David Cameron and wife Linda, of Nixa, MO, and, and Orville D. Cameron, of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Janet Kay Cameron, of St. Louis, MO; 8 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am, Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Pastor Mark Rounsaville officiating. Burial will be held in Humansville Cemetery, Humansville, MO. A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm on Friday, November 4, 2011 also at the funeral home.
