Virgie Lee Boyd, born on December 18, 1924, in Fair Play, Missouri, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, at Parkview Healthcare Facility Bolivar, Missouri. She was saved during a revival at Bolivar Assembly of God and was blessed with a long and fulfilling life.
Virgie was a dedicated salesclerk at Lou’s Pharmacy, and at Dryers Shoe Store where she shared her warmth and kindness with everyone she encountered. Although she completed her education through the 8th grade, her wisdom and knowledge far exceeded any formal schooling.

Virgie was preceded in death by her parents Ira Eden and Nannie Ellen (Stroud) Scurlock; her first husband of 44 yrs Harold Ray Parrish; five siblings: Con, Willard, and Lawrence Scurlock, Darcus Blair, and Dolis Jump; and a great granddaughter Kayla Wooten.
She was a beloved mother and is survived by her son Deryl Parrish (Holly), and her daughter Glenda Batten (James); six grandchildren: Jim, Russell, Denise, Christina, Rick, and Melissa; 16 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren and one on the way; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will cherish her memory forever. She was very proud of her family and their many talents and accomplishments.
According to Virgie’s wishes her body will be cremated. Graveside services will take place at Crestview Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 10:00 am. Online condolences may be made at: www.greenlawnfuneralhome.com. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts Chapel Bolivar, MO. Prepare to meet her again in heaven!
