Virginia Elizabeth Johnson Rucker of Springfield, Mo., 92, passed peacefully in her sleep on July 6, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Ella Lane of Roby, Texas. Virginia married Maurice D Johnson in 1946 and together they had five children. Virginia married Ray Rucker (decd. 2002) of Springfield, Mo, in 1991. Virginia was a life-long member of High Street Church, where she made many friendships and served others in times of need. Virginia loved playing cards with her friends, solving crossword puzzles every day, and playing canasta with her daughters and granddaughters. She was an avid tennis and St. Louis Cardinals fan. Virginia never missed a birthday and was a giving donor to many, many charities.
Virginia is survived by her four children, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations are accepted in Virginia’s name to Huntington’s Disease Society of America. Public visitation will be Wednesday, July 8, 2020, from 5 pm – 7 pm. at Greenlawn Funeral home on Battlefield.
