Virginia Iris Reid (Iris) was an amazing wife, mother, Grammie, aunt, and sister. Mom passed away on Jan 2, 2015 peacefully after a long battle with dementia. We are all deeply saddened and will miss her terribly. We rejoice that Mom is now in the arms of her Savior, and we are comforted in knowing that she has now been reunited with our father, Buster. Mom was born in Burnham, MO, on June 25, 1930 to Earl M Williamson and Fannie Lee Williamson.
Mom was lovingly known as Aunt Iris to her niece and nephew, Melissa Lynn Hall and family, and Bill Abbott Jr and family. Family meant everything to Mom; she always loved having all of her family around her. She was happiest whenever we were all together. Mom was very proud of all of us, and was always there to support us in whatever choice we made in life. Mom enjoyed music and was a very talented pianist. Dancing with our father was a passion of hers, and it was always a joy to watch them on the dance floor. Mom enjoyed crocheting, painting ceramics, and gardening. Her yard was always manicured and pristine. Mom and Dad loved to fish, and we all have great memories of times spent at our cabin on the lake. Mom was very proud of the home she built for all of us. We grew up loved and we cherished her. We are very lucky to have had her in our lives, and she will be missed dearly. In 1956, Iris fell in love with Loren Lee Reid, (Buster) and married him in October of that year. Their marriage was blessed with three children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Buster; daughter Rebecca Lynn Reid at a very young age; and a son Thomas Earl Fielder in 2010. She is survived by her children, Lisa Ann Reid and Lance E Reid. The “lights of her life” were her grandchildren, Lauren Leigh Reid and Landon Kyle Reid. She was so proud of them, and loved them with all of her heart! Also surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Bill and Beverly Abbott of Springfield. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow at GreenlawnMemorialGardens. Friends may pay their respects from 4:00 ~ 6:00 pm Monday at the funeral home.
