Virginia Patricia Engler, age 92, of Branson, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home on March 6, 2026. She will be greatly missed.
Virginia was born November 20, 1933 in Hutchinson,KS to Robert and Margaret LaFever. Some of her fondest memories included time spent on her grandparents’ Hutchinson farm. She cherished the Kansas sunsets and seemly ever-present Kansas wind. She was always a Kansas girl at heart. She graduated from Hutchinson High School and attended Hutchinson Junior College.
Virginia and Peter were married on May 15,1953. They lived in California, Kansas, and Arkansas before making Branson their home in 1962. Peter and Virginia played an integral part in the growth of Silver Dollar City during its early years. Virginia later showcased her many creative talents when they opened Engler Block on Highway 76.
Virginia’s career choices made it evident that she thrived when helping others. Among other roles, she served as Activities Director and then administrator at a local nursing home. She also served as Activities Director of the skilled nursing unit at Skaggs Hospital for a decade.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Her children have fond memories of sitting quietly by her side during church services and enjoying the fun-filled summer days of Vacation Bible School. She valued her membership in PEO and the friendships that it brought her way.
Virginia excelled at bowling in the 1960’s and enjoyed square dancing with Peter in the 1970’s. She loved flowers and plants which flourished under the care of her green thumb. Her backyard brought her much joy through the years as she nurtured the plants and birds.
She was known to her grandchildren and great grandchildren as Nana. Her heart encouraged and her home provided a place of imagination, art, gardening, and outdoor play. Virginia’s love for them created sweet and lasting memories.
Virginia is survived by her five children: Richard, Laurie, Teresa(Mike), Rachel(John), and Sara(Joe); eleven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Peter Engler, and three brothers Edgar, Herbert, and Joseph.
The family would like to thank her friend and neighbor, Sue Ray and also Good Shepherd Hospice.
Funeral services for Virginia will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM with a 3:00 PM service following.
Interment of her ashes will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.

Oh my, such sad news to hear. She was a quiet gentlewoman, and had the most rich laughter! I will always remember her kindness and how she always treated us as if she had waited all day to talk just to you personally.
