Vivan “Vi” Starr was born near Hoxie, Kansas on June 10, 1921 and died at the age of 92 on September 15, 2013 at her home in Berryville, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Lacey Babcock and had one older brother, Leon all of whom are deceased.
She moved with her parents to Eureka Springs, Arkansas in 1937. She graduated from Eureka Springs High School in 1939. She was employed in a law firm, insurance, real estate and abstracts from 1941 to 1950. She was married to David B. Starr in 1952. They moved to Huntsville, Alabama and a year later to Mobile, Alabama where they lived for 29 years. They moved to Berryville in 1984. She was a charter member of the Southern Heights Baptist Church in Berryville. Vi had been active in Christian Women’s Club and did volunteer work for auxiliary at the hospital and at Green Forest Thrift Store.
She leaves her husband of 61 years David Starr of the home and two daughters, Myra Freshwater and Diane Corrales of Wilmington, North Carolina and Satsuma, Alabama, respectively and their husbands Tom and Mark and six grandchildren, Ben, Dawn, Lindsay, Clay, John and Katherine.
Funeral services will be held Southern Heights Baptist Church in Berryville at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 with visitation to begin at 9:30 AM until service time. Burial will follow in the Eureka Springs City Cemetery under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson, Mo.
