Walter Lee Erspamer, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on May 6, 1940, in Tacoma, Washington, Walter was a proud veteran who served in the Navy. He later pursued a distinguished career as an engineer in the power plant industry, showcasing his dedication and expertise.
Walter also served his community with honor as a fire chief and police officer in Lead Hill and Diamond City, Arkansas. His commitment to public service was evident in all he did, reflecting his passion for helping others and making a positive impact.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Walter had a deep love for life and family. He is survived by his cherished children, Jeff Erspamer, Charlene Erspamer-Romo, and Michelle Broderson, along with their families. He leaves behind a brother Rick Erspamer. He was a proud grandfather to Leisha Meacham, Serena Erspamer, Jeffree Broderson, Stephen Erspamer, Kevin Erspamer and Jennifer Erspamer, and had three great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy. Walter shared a loving partnership with his fiancée, Sandra Martin.
Walter was known for his hobbies, which included target and competition shooting, woodworking, and his love for animals, particularly his beloved cats-Snickers, Shadow, Pipsqueak, and Casper-and the squirrels he enjoyed watching from his home.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Doris Jacobsen Erspamer, his parents, Walter and Eileen Erspamer, and his brother, Ronnie Erspamer. Walter will be remembered not only for his achievements but also for his warm heart and generous spirit.
Walter Lee Erspamer touched the lives of many. He will be greatly missed but fondly remembered.
