Walter Luther Newton, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and dedicated great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on April 16, 1942, in Paragould, Arkansas. Walter was proceeded in death by his father William Newton and mother Bessie (Draffen) Newton-Austin, son Carlon Newton and daughter Sondra McAdams. Walter lived a life defined by hard work, love for family, and a deep commitment to his craft.
Walter spent many years proudly serving the railroad industry as a mechanic for BNSF Railroad, where he was known for his remarkable skills and unwavering dedication. His passion for his work was matched only by his love for his family. He was a devoted husband to Carolyn Newton for 67 years and a cherished father to his three surviving daughters: Juanita Exceen (Robert), Martha Jackson (Brent), and Dana Small. He was a loving grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, as well as many nephews and nieces. Walter instilled in his children the values of hard work, kindness, and resilience, traits that they carry with them to this day.
A gentle soul with a warm smile, Walter was cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His home in Bolivar, Missouri, was always filled with laughter, love, and the aroma of delicious family meals. Walter had a passion for flying his planes, hunting, fishing, sharing stories and family time. Walter never met a stranger and had a special way of bringing people together, and his legacy will live on through the countless memories he created with his loved ones.
Funeral services will be held in honor of Walter’s life and legacy. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and share treasured memories.
