Walter Merton Schultz, Jr., age 86, of Springfield, MO, passed away on December 13, 2013. Walter was born on April 22, 1927 in Stirum, North Dakota. He married Glenna Barmore Schultz on February 14, 1962 in Joplin, Missouri. Walt originally farmed 1,000 acres at Stirum, North Dakota. Walt & Glenna moved to Lisbon, North Dakota following a disastrous flood. He continued farming and working for the Lisbon School District as a school bus manager. Walt would do anything to support his family, so following their move to Joplin, MO he became a church custodian while he studied for his real estate license. Walt and Glenna eventually moved to Kimberling City, MO and then to Springfield, MO. Walt was preceded in death by his parents Walter M. Schultz, Sr. and Caroline Schultz, and his sister Maxine Guthmiller. He is survived by his beloved wife Glenna, Springfield, MO, his beloved children; Michael Schultz and Julie McGill, Springfield, MO, beloved grandchildren; John, Jana and Megan Rosewicz all of Springfield, MO, he is also survived by his beloved brother Charles and sister-in-law Louise, Arden Hills, MN, nephew Ron Guthmiller and his wife Pat of Grand Forks, ND, and family cousins. He loved Redeemer Lutheran Church and Springfield Lutheran School.
Services will be in Redeemer Lutheran Church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 20, 2013 with inurnment following in Redeemer Lutheran Church Memorial Garden, under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations can be made to Springfield Lutheran School.
