Wanda Frances Cantrell, age 80, of Springfield, Missouri, passed peacefully away on May 21, 2025, at Brookhaven Nursing and Rehab. She was born to Frances Leroy and Wanda Lucille (DeMore) Aldridge on January 4, 1945, in Springfield. Wanda was raised in the Springfield area and graduated from Willard High School in 1963. She was united in marriage to Donald Dean Peine and, after his untimely passing, was married to Perry Cecil Cantrell on June 18, 2005, in Grove, Oklahoma. Wanda was blessed with two loving children, Lisa and Ricky.
Wanda held several jobs during her adulthood including a long tenure on the production line at Hudson Foods. She also served as a devoted caregiver to many children during her years as a babysitter. She especially liked to babysit her grandchildren. Wanda was a kind and caring woman who always put her family first and worked hard to meet their needs. When not working outside the home, Wanda liked to cook, host family get-togethers, and plant flowers. Her flowers were truly beautiful, just like Wanda herself.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Donald Peine, Eugene West, and Cecil Cantrell; son, Ricky Dean Peine; brother, David Aldridge; and sister, Deanna Smith. She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Slater and her husband, William; grandsons, Patrick Harden and Michael Peine; great-grandson, Ivan Peine; uncle, Herschell DeMore; and niece, Peggy Lea. Wanda will be deeply missed by those whose life she touched.
Wanda’s family will host a visitation on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, 1:00 pm, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens in Springfield.
