Wanda Jean Cole, 87 of Springfield, Missouri passed away in her home, Wed. May 4, 2016.
She was born Dec. 25, 1928 in Leeper, Missouri to Dennis and Lula clay and was united in marriage to Harry Newell Cole Nov. 30, 1946. To this union were born 6 children.
Wanda and Harry both worked at the Gospel Publishing House for many years, until they retired in 1992. They have worshipped at Oak Grove Assembly of God for the past 17 years. They pastored churches with the Assembly of God for 30 years. They pioneered Mt. Calvary Assembly of God in 1955.
Wanda was the last surviving of 8 children. She was preceded in death by sons; Jeffry and Steve, and great-grandson, Ezra.
She is survived by Harry, her loving husband of 69 years; children and spouses Boyd and Donna Cole of Rogersville; Brad and Ann Cole of Rogersville; Sandy and Steve Crane of Fair Grove; Middy and Steve Green of Springfield; and Faith Cole of McKinney, TX.
She is also survived by grandchildren: Kelli and Michael Ladwig, Karen and Mike Sood, Leah and Jimmy Dixon, Ben and Brandy Cole, Jesse and Amy Cole, Seth and Carrie Cole, Steven and Kim Cole, and Caleb Green: 11 great-grandchildren, a great-great-granddaughter, a special sister-in-law, Harriet Clay of Piedmont, MO, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Wanda was small in stature but great of heart. She was a perfect example of Christ’s love. She provided comfort and wisdom to many that sought her out for a motherly touch. Her feisty nature and quick wit drew people to her. We will grieve, but are comforted in knowing she is with Jesus.
Visitation will be Sunday, May 8, 2016 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Oak Grove A/G, 1320 S. Oak Grove Springfield, MO. Services will be Monday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO.
