Raised in a loving home by her devoted mother and stepfather following the loss of her biological father, Wanda was a proud valedictorian of the Cuba, MO Public Schools, graduating in 1946. In 1968, Wanda returned to the workforce, taking on a position as a secretary in the Springfield Public Schools, where she served with dedication until her retirement in 1992. Her commitment to education and community was reflected in her involvement with Second Baptist Church and later Graceway Baptist Church, where she found solace and fellowship among many friends.
Wanda’s passions extended beyond her professional life. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, water aerobics, and tending to her beloved yard, always bringing beauty to her surroundings. A fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, she delighted in following their games, especially those shared with her grandchildren. She was a proud supporter of various community activities, including the Springfield Lions Club.
Wanda’s legacy will live on through her three sons, Chris Henry and his wife Dianne of Springfield, Pat Henry and his wife Lu of Seymour, and Rex Henry and his wife Joni of Kansas City. She leaves behind six grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild, all of whom cherished her deeply.
