Jesus came to get Wanda Mae Hamilton, 79, on March 19th, 2015. Memorial graveside service will be held Monday, March 23rd at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield, MO.
Wanda was born on May 4th, 1935 to Carl & Eva Shipley. She is survived by a daughter, Jacklyn Fast, a son, Stephen Hamilton and a grandson, Josh Fast, all of Springfield, MO. A sister and brother-in-law, Peggy & Bob Sell of Willard, MO, a brother and sister-in-law, Bud and Mary Shipley of Jefferson City, MO and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack Hamilton, two sisters, Darlene Jackson and JoAnn Young, and a son-in-law, Steven Fast.
Wanda was a merchandiser for American Greetings for the past 21 years and just retired this past July. She was a caring, compassionate and generous person who never met a stranger and had the gift of making others laugh. Her greatest love was her family, especially her children and grandson, in which her grandson was her pride and joy.
Wanda loved getting up early in the morning to drink a cup of coffee, read her “Jesus Is Calling” book and watching the sun come up. She referred to the sun as the “eye of God.” She enjoyed her job, poetry, crossword puzzles, cats, collecting angels & wind chimes and taking walks. Her passion was visiting with people. She always ate dessert first because life is short.
