All things about Wanda is a rich and wonderful memory – her smile, her laugh, her warm-as-a-blanket-hug – that special way she had of saying, ‘I love you.’ If I have a memory most notable, it is the year after my dad passed, in 2003. My mom, then 82 years of age, bemoaned never getting the chance to come to New York City to visit Mary and me. Dad refused to travel, especially to New York City. It was Wanda to the rescue: ‘Come on Dot, pack a bag – we’re going to New York to see Mary and Nello.’ And what a visit it was. The Broadway show, 42nd Street, Little Italy, Chinatown, Central Park, the Museum of Modern Art, over and under the Brooklyn Bridge, cruising by the Statue of Liberty on the Staten Island Ferry, a pilgrimage to Ground Zero, which at that time still held deep scars from that horrible day. For a week, Mom, Wanda, Mary and I soaked up the good, the sad and otherwise-all of New York City. And at long last, my Mom, and Wanda, fully understood our special, albeit peculiar, love affair with New York. Which really wasn’t all that different from the love I never lost of my home in the Ozarks. All that Wanda and Myron did for my mom and dad and for us, the big and small, seen and unseen, were loving gifts that resonate in equal measure for all time. For Wanda, giving was receiving. She delighted in the joy and happiness of others and would go to any length for those she loved, most especially for daughter Cathy and the love of her life Myron. When I failed to reach my mom by only minutes in the moment of her passing, I took comfort knowing that Wanda was there beside her. Always beside her, and us. Every moment with you, dear Wanda, was a gift, your memory a blessing, and your ‘I-love-you’s,’ heartfelt prayers. Godspeed and God’s Grace be with you dear sister.

Wanda was our sister and we have so many great memories with her. She is the reason we met and married. She stood up as our maid of honor at our wedding. She hosted summer family get togethers every year, making sure everyone was having a good time. She was a special aunt to our daughter and son. Always cheerful and smiling. She loved the Lord and we know she is in heaven with her loved ones. She will always be in our hearts. Larry and Joni
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Wanda was a wonderful lady, and a great friend to my cousins, the Thompsons! What a wonderful smile and laugh.

Cathy and Myron.... My heart is broken for you. Wanda loved you two so much, just as she loved everyone in her life. She will be so missed. I am praying for you to have comfort knowing that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is no longer in pain or is suffering. I imagine Delta meeting her with open arms and they are still catching up with each other. I love you both and will continue to keep you in my prayers. Love..Kathy

Wanda and Myron were some of our first friends when we moved here 20 years ago. They made us feel welcome and helped us settle in to a new home and community. We loved them from the moment we met. Over the years we shared fun, food, fellowship, Bible studies, and prayer. The love of our Lord flowed through Wanda. It could be seen in every action she made and every word she spoke. Her family was her greatest treasure on this earth (including the dogs) and friends were a close second. The world was a better place because of Wanda’s presence and she will be greatly missed. I keep expecting the phone to ring so that she can tell me how special her first day in Heaven was. There is no doubt in my mind that she will be ready to meet us and help us settle in to our new home and community when we join her there. For now we will hold sweet memories in our hearts. We extend our deepest condolences to Myron, Cathy, and all of the family. You are surrounded by our love and prayers.

Wanda made Al those around her feel so special. She lite up any room she walked into. I met her 5 years ago during my first trip to Missouri. She made sure I knew I was welcomed and we quickly became friends. I lived our lunches at Mrs Gilmores Tearoom followed by going to various antique places. If Wanda came to a family gathering or party she would bring enough food for half the city. Myron, Cathy ,Sean, and family meant the world to her. We had many chats about her cherished her schnauzer, Tucker. Wanda’s belief in God was strong and heaven is now brighter with this special angel going home.
