Wanda Sue Starkey, age 69, of Springfield, MO, passed away Sunday, December 1, 2013 in her home surrounded by family. She was born January 27, 1944, in Wright County, MO, to Delmer and Rosa (Deckard) Dunn. She was a member Valley Watermill Church of Christ. She was united in marriage to Don Starkey on November 8, 1982 in Springfield, Missouri. Wanda retired from St. John’s Medical Center after 21 years as a Certified Nurses Aide. She enjoyed her dogs, her flowers, and going to Branson to watch the shows, She loved being able to help other people. Wanda’s greatest love was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Delmer and Rosa Dunn; and one sister, Ann Crites.
She is survived by her husband of thirty-one years,Don Starkey of Springfield; five children, Ronda Looney of Springfield, Karen Harding and husband Bruce of Republic, Rex Wilson and wife Tina of Buffalo, Gary Wilson and wife Nora of Springfield, and Steven Casteel of Republic; twenty –three grandchildren, Phillip, Nyomi, Casey, Brandon, Amanda, Sonny, Carrie, Jeff, Dustin, Dale, Sydney, John, Tiffany, Lance, Cassie, Zachary, Kandi, Theresa, Dwight, Jake, Aaron, and Mark; twenty great-grandchildren, Hailey, Makyla, Cameron, Carlie, Gavin,”Little Philip”, Karen, Recardo, Jeovine, Kyla, Danial, Izabella, Jaylyne, Julieata, Julian, Avril, Skylee, Peyton, Tyler, Cobe,Bailey,Carter, Marshal, and Maggie; one great-great granddchild, Brooklien; one nephew, Ronnie Climer and wife Delina of Willard; cousins, J.C. Mackey and wife LaDonna of Rogersville, Kay Price and husband Butch of Strafford, and many other special cousins, family and friends.
A family reception will be at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at Valley Watermill Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Wednesday,at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Dennis Smith officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 3-4 p.m. on Wednesday,in the funeral home.
