Mr. Wayne Marshall Wolkey, age 82 of Halfway, MO, passed away Monday, April 10, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Springfield, MO. He was born August 16, 1934, in Chicago, IL, to Eugene T. and Alberta (Prellberg) Wolkey. He retired as a custodian at Halfway Schools. He helped start the Halfway Fire Dept., and served as Chief for a while.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his son Brian Wolkey; one sister Shirley Wolkey; a brother Allen Wolkey; and his first wife Ruth Andersen Kamerer.
He is survived by four children: Debbie Black and husband Hermann of Louisburg, MO, Diane York and fiancée Curt Dryer of St. Louis, MO, Gene Wolkey and wife Marty of Louisburg, MO, and Shirley Routh and husband Steve of Grove, OK; second wife Robin Wolkey of Halfway, MO; 12 grandchildren: Amanda Black, Robert Housewright and wife Jennifer, Carl Black and wife Liz, Blake Housewright and wife Jaymee, Travis Wolkey and wife Kodi, Jesse Swafford, Christopher Housewright, Matt Wolkey and wife Linsey, Aaron Black and wife Kinsey, Jake Wolkey and wife Candice, Stephanie Routh, and Tyler Routh; 16 great grandchildren; a sister Sharon Craddock and husband Curt of Fox Lake, IL; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, May 6, 2017, from 12:00 to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 PM with Bro.’s Martin Hosiner and Curt Dryer officiating.
