Wayne Max Childers, a lifetime Springfield resident, passed on April 28, 2012 with his loving family at his bedside. Born January 27, 1925: Wayne was a devoted son to William Frank and Bessie Lee Fraley Childers. He married Elpha Sue Clark on the 15 th of July 1960. To this union two children were born: Pamela Gayle Childers Batten and Steven Clark Childers. Wayne was a structural steel draftsman throughout his life with an enduring love for Jazz Music. Wayne is survived by his wife and children, son-in-law Bobby Batten II, grand-daughter Lanie Batten-Goodman, hopeful daughterin-law Sema, sister Gladys Morgan and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Mercy Hospice for Wayne’s care during his battle with cancer. Memorial Services will be Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
