Wayne N. Hoffer, age
93, of Bolivar, MO, passed away March 31, 2013, in his home. He was born to Umphrey “US” and Claudia Grace
(Connelly) Hoffer October 21, 1919, in Ellis, KS. He graduated from WaKeeney High School. He is a US Army WWII veteran serving in the
Pacific Theater. He obtained his BA
degree from the University of Missouri, and taught Elementary Education at
Marion C. Early Morrisville Schools, Morrisville, MO, from 1966 to 1986. Wayne was united in marriage to Lucille
Sconce Easter Sunday, April 5, 1953.
He
was a member of Mt Olive Baptist Church, served as a Deacon, and Choir member. He served as choir director and Sunday School
Teacher at Southern Hills Baptist Church and Eminence First Baptist Church.
He
was preceded in death by his parents: Umphrey Silas and Claudia Grace; two
brothers: Lester and Ralph Hoffer; five sisters: Gladys Wahlborg, Beatrice
Roesch, Marie Moore, Carrietta Brown, and Cora Bland.
He
is survived by his wife of 60 years Lucille Hoffer of the home; his son Nathan
Hoffer of Bolivar, MO; two grandchildren: Bonnie and husband Jon Shikles, and
Silas Hoffer of Bolivar, MO; a sister Daisy Blanche Murphy of Dallas, TX; and a
host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral
services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Pitts Chapel with
Pastors Danny Vance and Sam Upton officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Pitts
Chapel Bolivar, MO.
