Funeral services for Wilbur James McWilliams age 91 of Merriam Woods, Missouri will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 26, 2011 at the Forsyth Christian Church with Pastor Dean Burton officiating. Burial will be in Marshalltown, Iowa. Local arrangements are under the direction of Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson, Mo.
He died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at his home in Merriam Woods.
He was born on October 2, 1920 in Marshalltown Iowa, the son of Thomas Hugh and Martha Alice McWilliams. He attended school in Clemons and Conrad, Iowa. On May 9, 1942 he was united in marriage to Mary Constance Kline and they had four daughters. He was then married to Betty Smith Clapsaddle on August 14, 1966. He farmed until 1985 when he retired and they moved to Merriam Woods, Mo., 1989.
Survivors are his wife; Betty McWilliams of the home. Three sisters, Velma Sheller, Hazel Nason, Marilyn and husband Rich Culley and a brother Robert McWilliams and wife Bertha. Four daughters, Mary Rattray, Martha Fisher and husband Bill, Sara Benda and husband Floyd, Jane Kuhlers and husband Delmar, five step-children, Charles Clapsaddle and wife Barb, Ron Clapsaddle and wife Kathy, Richard Clapsaddle, Bev Clover and husband Burt, Barb Duncan and husband Jim, 24 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his parents, and two great great grandchildren.
Friends may call at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson from noon until 5 pm on Friday.
A second service will be held in Marshalltown, Iowa under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown, Iowa.
