With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William Daniel Stokes, 75, a beloved husband and dairy farmer, who drew his first breath on April 13, 1949, in Springfield, MO. His journey on this earth came to a peaceful end on November 26, 2024, at his residence in Springfield, MO after a long illness.
Dan dedicated his life to the art of farming, finding solace in the fields and his animals. His unwavering commitment to his craft saw him as a prominent figure in the industry, boasting a successful self-employed career that spanned decades. In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing and riding his horses.
Left to cherish his memory is his devoted wife, Tonya Stokes, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Their love was unyielding, a beacon of strength amid life’s storms. He is also survived by three daughters: Courtney Stokes, Ashley Harper and her husband Chad, and Hailey Smith, his grandchildren: Dylan, Kyle, Layne, Ayden, Heath, Hannah, Emery, and Gracie and one grandson on the way, Stephen Daniel Wayne, great-grandchildren: Arlo, Lucy, River, and one great-grandchild on the way, Rayne, his sister: Judy Fergerson and her husband Gary, and one brother, Tim Stokes and his wife, Geana, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
As we reflect on the life Dan lived, we invite friends and family to join us in honoring his legacy. A Funeral Service will be held at the Brighton, MO Assembly Of God Church on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 2:00 pm.
In his departure, Dan leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and love. May his spirit find eternal peace as we bid him farewell on his final journey.
Dan was preceded in death by: his parents, William Stokes, Betty Stokes, and two brothers: Buford Cross and James Stokes.
