William (Bill) D. McGavran, age 93, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on September 18, 2026, at home. Bill was born to Kenneth McGavran and Thelma McGavran on April 17, 1933 in Seymour, IA. He was raised in Seymour, IA and graduated from Corydon High School in 1951. Bill proudly served in the United States Navy active duty for four years and four years in the Navel Reserve, before his honorable discharge on January 3, 1960. Bill was united in marriage to Janice Beeley on October 12, 1957, in Omaha, Nebraska. Bill and Janice shared sixty eight years of marriage before Bill’s untimely passing on September 18, 2026. The couple were blessed with three children.

Bill was employed as a maintenance machinist with Continental Can Company for thirty seven years. When not working, he had many interests and pastimes including woodworking, rebuilding cars, building a street rid, and watching NASCAR races. However, nothing brought him more fulfillment than camping and fishing with family and friends. Bill accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior many years ago. His favorite hymn was “In The Garden”. He will be remembered as a hardworking and devoted family man, and was often described as a good friend who was always willing to help others, a true man of integrity.

Bill was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth McGavran; mother, Thelma McGavran; and daughter, Teresa McCarthy. He is survived by his spouse Janice McGavran; daughter, Cheryl McGavran; son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Roxanne McGavran; granddaughter Lanie McGavran.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Bill’s memory to Honor Flight of The Ozarks. http://www.honorflightoftheozarks.org or any charitable organization of choice. There will be no services per request. Interment will be at National Veterans Cemetery in Omaha, Nebraska at a later date.
