William G. Eastlake (Bill), beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many, passed on to his heavenly reward on November 5, 2026, at home. He was born on August 4, 1928, in Jermyn, Pennsylvania, the son of Reuben and Mary Eastlake.
Bill was a World War II-era veteran and served as a Staff Sergeant with the 817th Engineer Aviation Battalion, where he was a surveyor. He was among the first troops to serve in Thule, Greenland, arriving there on July 4, 1947. Bill was part of the team that conducted the preliminary survey for Thule Air Force Base, which was built four years later.
Following his military service, Bill studied civil engineering at Pennsylvania State University and worked as a surveyor for a large engineering firm in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
While attending revival services, Bill felt the Lord leading him into full-time Christian service. He enrolled at Central Bible Institute, graduating in 1954. Upon graduation, he was invited to accept a position with the Assemblies of God national headquarters in Springfield, Missouri.
During his 37 years of employment, he served as Promotional Director of the National Sunday School Department, Editor of Sunday School Quarterly Materials, and Manager of Marketing Services. For 19 years, until his retirement, he served as the first National Director of the Division of Publications and General Manager of the Gospel Publishing House.
Bill served on several boards and committees at the Assemblies of God national headquarters. He also served on the board of the Assemblies of God Credit Union and, for 34 years, on the Board of Directors of Maranatha Village.
On June 13, 1953, he married Martha Ann Clark. To this union were born three children: Pamela, Tod, and Patrice. Martha preceded him in death on July 21, 1974.
On December 29, 1979, he married Nancy (Wilson) Tayman, who had been widowed on May 20, 1972. Nancy had four children: David, Teresa, Keith, and Cheryl. Nancy preceded him in death on October 7, 2019.
Following his retirement in 1991, Bill and Nancy volunteered with the American Red Cross Disaster Services Division for 22 years. They were assigned to more than 45 national disasters throughout the United States, the Virgin Islands, and Guam. They also responded to disasters throughout southwest Missouri, taught various training courses, and were active with Armed Forces Emergency Services, assisting families of military personnel. In 1998, they received a state award from the American Red Cross for Exceptional Volunteer Service.
Bill was an avid reader and enjoyed sports, fishing, and metal detecting.
