William Martin Barnett passed away June 16, 2012 in his home. He was born Nov. 29, 1932 in Clinton, Arkansas to James M. and Inez Barnett. Bill served as a U.S. Marine and was a combat veteran of the Korean War. He was a Real Estate Broker for over 30 years with his own real estate company. He loved to fish and hunt for deer and turkey, and was an expert knife maker. He loved the Lord and was faithful to his church. William is survived by his wife of 57 years Norma Jean; a daughter Kathryn Thompson and her two daughters Crystal and Lydia ; a son Mark Barnett and his wife Josie, and their two sons Matthew and Ethan and three great-grandchildren, all of Springfield. He is also survived by one sister and two brothers. Funeral Services will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, with Pastor Phil Webb officiating. Burial with Military Rites will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Grace Assembly Missionary fund for special needs adults.
