William Walker
July 16, 1940 – Jan. 11, 2015
William “Andy” Walker joined his precious daughter Patrice and many other loved ones in heaven on Sunday, January 11, 2015. The memorial service to celebrate Andy’s life will be 2 p.m., Thursday, January 15, at Harmony Baptist Church in Rogersville with Dr. Derek Gregg officiating.
He was a Waco resident for 33 years prior to retirement in Rogersville, Missouri. Rev. Walker was a minister at FBC Woodway for 14 years where he served in various positions and a corporate chaplain with Marketplace Ministries for 15 years. He retired after serving as the Pastor of Searsville Country Church in Valley Mills, Texas for 10 years.
Andy was born in Galveston, Texas on July 16, 1940 and was the 11th of 12 children. He attended grade school in Texas and Arkansas and graduated High School from the School of the Ozarks, now College of the Ozarks. He graduated from Cal State Northridge after surrendering to God’s ministry and attended seminary at Golden Gate in San Francisco, California.
He proudly served his country as a Naval Sea Bee which brought him to Oxnard, California where he met the love of his life, Elaine. They were married on December 19, 1964 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; his son, Russell and wife, Susan; and four very special grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers; two sisters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Andy has been a faithful man of God throughout his life. One of his favorite scriptures was Psalm 118:24, “This is the Day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it.” His daily walk always included time with his Lord… “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and he will direct your paths” Proverbs 3:5-6.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Andy to Harmony Baptist Church Missions Organization, 5105 South State Hwy 125, Rogersville, MO 65742.
