Wilma Bernice Towers, age 88, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, October 24, 2010. Wilma was born in Aurora, MO, on January 29, 1922. She graduated from Aurora, MO high school, and attended Southwest Missouri Teachers College for one year. On December 1, 1940, Wilma married Paul Towers in Aurora, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Roach and his wife Edel; two sisters: Martha Helen Roach, and Sammie Sumners; a brother William Roach; her husband Paul and a daughter Susan Nelsen. She is survived by a son Terence and wife Janice of Springfield, MO; three grandchildren: Karen Parkison and husband Donald of Bourbonnais, IL, Scott and his wife Tracy of Lakeville, MN, Troy Nelsen of Nashville, TN, and five great grandchildren: Joshua, Kayla, and Chelsea Parkison of Bourbonnais, IL, and Rebecca and Jackson Towers of Lakeville, MN. Wilma served as church organist in several churches, she also taught beginning and intermediate piano students for many years. Wilma was a member of Parkview Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, October 28, 2010, at Greenlawn South Funeral Home with Brad Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Orange cemetery Aurora, MO. Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 27th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Parkview Christian Church.
