Winifred M. (Parrish) Huitt, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 13 at the age of 94 with her family at her side. She was a resident of St. John’s Mercy Villa at the time of her passing. Special thanks for the loving and kind care she received from the staff at Mercy Villa and Hospice Compassus. She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Lee Huitt; her parents Samuel Wesley and Mary Parrish; her sisters Mabel, Ruth, Tressie; her brothers Floyd, Jesse, Paul and Byrum. She was born November 5, 1916 in West Frankfort, IL and married Lee Huitt on November 4, 1938. To this union was born William Lee Huitt, Jr. and Robert Edwin Huitt. She is survived by her two sons, William and wife Sarah of Springfield, Robert and his wife Jan of Pacific Grove, CA; eight grandchildren, James, William, Michael, Jeffrey, Eric, Bobby, Callie and Sherry Hart; nineteen great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless people she considered family members. Her unconditional love touched all she knew. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, September 18 in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. A celebration of her life will be 9 a.m., Monday, in LifeQuest Church (formerly known as First Church of God) in Springfield followed by burial in Veterans Cemetery.
