Zelma Jean Bridges
After a lengthy illness, Mrs. Zelma Jean Bridges, known to all as “Jeanie”, went to meet her Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 17, 2009, surrounded by her devoted family, in Cox South Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri. Jeanie was born on August 5, 1942, the third child of six, to John Gilbert and Eva Lillian Gough, in Springfield. She married her high school sweetheart John Kenneth Bridges on June 1, 1963, and they lived their entire married life out on their gorgeous ranch raising horses, mules and cattle, and enjoying her cat, dogs, wild birds, deer and many other animals, in northeast Springfield. Jeanie graduated from St. John’s School of Nursing in 1963, and practiced as an RN for 30 years. Jeanie is the devoted mother of three, Darin Bridges of Springfield and his wife, Michele, and grandson, Isaac; daughter Brandi Stennett of Branson and her husband, Charlie and grandsons, Chaz and Sloan; and daughter, Jodi Lemoine of Slidell, Louisiana and her husband, Todd and grandsons, Nicholas, Talon and Quinn. She is survived by brother Mike Gough and his wife, Lee of Bethesda, Md.; sister-in-law Carol Bridges Gough of Springfield, Mo.; sister Judy Horned of Springfield; brother John Gough of Columbia, S.C.; brother J.L. Gough of Stockton, Mo. and wife, Sharron; along with many nieces and nephews. Jeanie is also survived by more family and wonderful friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Dan Gough of Springfield; and brother-in-law Larry Horned of Springfield. Family and friends are welcome to attend a visitation service in Greenlawn Funeral Home North on Wednesday, October 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., and funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 22, in the funeral home, at 1 p.m. A gathering will take place at Jeanie and Johnny’s family home after the funeral services.
